Today yes Tuesday 5th February, Okay that was just weird anyways in Critical Literacy we watched a video about a woman called Andrea speaking about Critical Literacy. My teacher gave the class some six questions the answer about the video and also to test if we were paying attention.
(CL - Critical Literacy)
Questions:
What aspects of stories was Andrea interested in?
~From my opinion I think she was interested in how kids could identify the message from the fake news and how they found the hidden message.
What did the ad imply with the big diamond ring?
If you brought your girlfriend/wife a giant diamond ring you love them but if you don't you don't love them.
What Is Subtext?
Subtext is the hidden message in ads/posters.
With CL, can each student have their own answer?
Yes because everyone has their own opinions and everyone different.
What Does Andrea Compare CL to?
Wonder Woman's lasso because you can throw the magical lasso out and grab the real news.
How can CL be applied to your life outside of school?
You can pick up on the fake message and question the ad before you go out and buy it.
Summary:
What Am I Learning?
I am learning how to pick out the fake message in ads/posters, and question the fact if I would really want to buy/believe it.
How Does This Work Show My Learning?
It shows that I can understand what I have learnt and that I can use it in the real world.
What Am I Wondering?
Why do people put fake message up if they know that the lie won't sell right?
