Important Themes/Ideas

Some of the important main themes and ideas expressed in Klara and the Sun consist of loneliness and the nature of intelligence. From an article (ENotes) it states "As Klara comes to possess many complex human qualities, distinctions between artificial and human intelligence are called into question." This relates to how the nature of intelligence is an idea in Klara and the Sun. One of the more obvious themes/ideas is loneliness. Loneliness can be portrayed in this text quite a lot from Josie's mother being a single parent, to Josie not having too many friends (counting Rick and Klara.) Klara could feel lonely by being the only AF having to experience things all alone without another AF going on this journey together.
____________

Something New

Something new I learned after reading Klara and the Sun was that her vision was mainly different boxes in order to identify things. "Once she leaves the familiar confines of her store and has her first experience outside- we see that Klara's vision seems to be made up of different boxes, or at least it is in new situations in order to identify them. Later we learn that she hasn't been given any sense of smell, although later models were." - Anna Malecki, July 24 2021. The author of the book was using the idea of today's world with object recognition (possibly similar to Face ID) technology.
